TOWERS MUSICAL EXPRESSIONS
Music is life; that’s why our hearts have beats – author unknown
Here at the Elsa Leo Rhynie Hall, music has been the heartbeat of the different
towers and brings us together as a family. The power of the music we create together
is second to none on the Mona campus of the University of the West Indies.
The voices, the genre, the rhythm, the team; all blend together to communicate a
language we all understand but which the natural voice fails to speak, and we are
happy to have you share these unforgettable moments with us. By making the
Choir your choice you will have the opportunity to learn and attain a deeper
understanding of music through the training and the time we spend to perfect each
performance. We aim to develop your musical talent, by honing what you already
know and guiding you to exceed your expectations.
We are also proud to announce that we started our band last year. Through this,
students are given the opportunity to play, have fun and relax in our jam sessions.
The band creates room to interact with other musicians, learn from one another and
improve in skill.
The choir and band is the place to express yourself, whether by singing or playing
an instrument with patient and professional guidance. Our Resident Advisor,
Melbourne Douglas has made sure to create a safe place where persons can have
fun doing what they are passionate about while gaining the experience for the
wider society through live performances and campus competitions.
We are the proud winners for the UWI Choir Fest for 2018 & 2019 and intend to
keep the trophy on the Elsa Leo Rhynie Hall. If you believe you have what it takes
to help us to keep the trophy and be the first choice for entertainment at campus
events, then you are welcome.
Music is a piece of art that goes into the ears, straight to the heart. Where words
fail, music speaks
